What is the Market Rate Survey (MRS)?

Every three years, the state conducts an MRS to collect information on Missouri child care providers' current rates for child care services. The survey also collects optional information about the actual cost of providing child care.

You should have received an initial announcement from [email protected] on February 1.

PEER-TO-PEER SUPPORT HERE IN STL

The STL Market Rate Survey Collaborative, a group of providers and early childhood support groups, have come together to ensure you can access:

  • Training on how to accurately complete the MRS.
  • Additional resources and tools.
  • One-on-one and small group technical assistance.

Why the MRS is Important

The information you provide is crucial because it is used to determine subsidy rates for the next few years that reflect both the current cost of providing care and the actual cost of providing quality child care in your community.

Complete The Required AND Optional Questions

  • The required questions on the MRS only reflect what providers currently charge, not the actual care cost.
  • By filling out the optional questions, the state will have more data to set rates based on the actual cost of providing care and not just what providers can charge.

If You Prefer Direct Support from the State (DESE & Office of Childhood)

You can complete the survey online or by telephone. To simplify the survey, we recommend you have your rate sheet, bookkeeping, and payroll information ready. If you need assistance completing the survey or cannot respond online, contact them at [email protected].
