WEPOWER launches special collab!

Nine years ago today, 18-year young Michael Brown Jr. was murdered. The Ferguson Uprising ignited, and uprisings all across the globe ignited in solidarity. Our region and world will forever be changed. Yet, our work as a region isn’t done; it can’t be. #mikebrownforever means WE have a collective responsibility to honor his legacy – year after year and forevermore – by transforming the social systems that explicitly and implicitly led to his murder. 

This collective commitment calls on us to unapologetically build and wield political and economic power. And, as we commit to this lifelong, really, really hard work, we must also hold spaces for joy, celebration, and community building. 

WEPOWER Weekend is one of those spaces. And, we are grateful for a growing network of spaces being held for Black and Brown folks to simply BE…amidst it all – from Culture Fest to Frizzfest and many more.
